Our Journey: From Snowmobiles to a Premier Powersports Destination in Michigan
In 1995, Travis and Renee Conners embarked on a mission to share their love for outdoor adventures by founding Indian River Sports Center. Starting with a small snowmobile rental service, their dedication and passion fueled remarkable growth, transforming the business into a leading dealership for Arctic Cat and Yamaha products. Over the years, they have expanded their offerings to include ATVs, watercraft, and a variety of services, making them a trusted name in Northern Michigan's powersports community.

Our History and Founding
In 1995, Travis and Renee Conners purchased Rental Express, a rental company located south of Indian River, Michigan. Initially, the business offered a complete line of rental tools and equipment, soon expanding to include snowmobile rentals, becoming the first in the area to do so.
Relocating and Expanding the Business
New Facility and Location
By August 1996, the business relocated to a newly constructed facility on the north end of Indian River. This location, close to Interstate 75, provided more indoor and outdoor space, making it easier for customers to access. With this expansion, the business quickly became an Arctic Cat dealer and later added Yamaha, becoming the largest Arctic Cat and Yamaha dealership in the area.
Shifting Focus to Powersports
In 2007, Travis and Renee sold the tool and equipment rental portion of the business. Two years later, under the name Indian River Sports Center, they began building a new facility, which introduced jet ski, pontoon, and snowmobile rentals. The new facility, strategically located at the intersection of Old 27 (S. Straits Hwy) and I-75, offers ample parking for trucks with trailers, ensuring easy access for customers.

A 14,000-Square-Foot Powersports Destination
Today, our 14,000 sq. ft. facility displays a wide range of Yamaha and Arctic Cat snowmobiles and ATVs, Tahoe Pontoons, Crownline boats, Yamaha and Quiet Kat e-bikes, and a full line of clothing and accessories from brands like Yamaha, Klim, 509, Helly Hansen, Choko, and Yeti. Our customers enjoy the convenience of shopping for everything they need for outdoor powersports adventures in one place.
Future Plans and Growth
Future expansions include adding a dirt track behind the facility for demo rides, enhancing our offerings and commitment to the sport. Driven by their love for powersports, Travis and Renee aim to establish Indian River Sports Center as Northern Michigan's premier powersports dealership.
Family-Owned and Customer-Focused
As a family-owned business, Indian River Sports Center plans to continue offering jet ski, pontoon, and snowmobile rentals along with new and used snowmobile and ATV sales. Conveniently located off Exit 313, we proudly serve the outdoor enthusiasts of Indian River, Topinabee, and beyond, sharing our passion for powersports with Northern Michigan.

September 2019 I was on a motorcycle trip with a dear friend of mine heading north on I-75 when a link on the chain of my motorcycle locked up and jumped the sprockets - basically putting me in desperate need of help. They had the parts overnighted, put my repairs as a priority, and me back on the road in less than 48 hours! In addition to this - they helped me find WONDERFUL accommodations close to town within walking distance to good food.
